Press release from the El Paso Community College:
May 20, 2022
The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Foundation received notification on May 19, 2022, from the Consulado General de Mexico in El Paso of a $4,300 scholarship award for EPCC students of Mexican origin as part of a total of $8,000 awarded to the College.
This EPCC Foundation funding will be matched to assist students from Mexico or Mexican origins studying in the U.S. with tuition and academic expenses.
This is the third consecutive year that the EPCC Foundation has applied for and received funds from IME BECAS through the Mexican Consulate in El Paso to support students of Mexican origins. EPCC social work major America Melendez-Hernandez and IME Becas scholarship recipient shared this sentiment regarding the inspiration behind the scholarship award. "When it seems that the top is unattainable, that breath of hope comes that makes you not give up and move on, God is present everywhere and thanks to the scholarship that was generously granted to me, today that top is closer and my dreams one step away from becoming a reality, thank you IME Becas and the EPCC Foundation."
