ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving campaign sign thefts and a tracking device on a car, among others. Here is information from the reports:
Sign thefts
A candidate placed about 25 campaign signs in the yards of her various supporters on St. Charles Road between Poplar and Spring. On Wednesday, she was driving on St. Charles and saw that all her campaign signs had been removed from the front yards of her supporters. The thefts occurred overnight. Tracking devices
Someone placed an Apple AirTag tracking device on the car of a person having coffee May 4 at Brewpoint Coffee, 617 N. York. The incident was reported Wednesday. An investigation is pending. Camera stolen
A Ring camera was stolen from a front door between 6:15 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of First Street. Restaurant incident
A person was seen damaging the flower beds shortly before noon Wednesday near 151 Kitchen, 151 N. York St. The manager asked the person to leave. Police gave the suspect a no-trespass notice. Bike theft
A person left her light blue bicycle outside the Top Driver school, 492 S. Spring Road, and went into the building about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Upon her return, the bike was stolen. Disturbance
Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of South York Road. After an argument, a man took a woman's vehicle without her permission. An officer contacted the man, who said he took the car with permission. The suspect returned the car. Neither party wanted to press charges. Fugitive
An officer saw a suspicious vehicle about 2 a.m. Thursday at SpringHill Suites. The driver sped away and was last seen heading east on Interstate 290 at North Avenue.
