EAGAN, MN— City leaders expect rinks to open by the time the sun goes down on Wednesday, December 30.
The lights will stay on well into the evening for a New Year's Eve skate on Thursday, December 31, too.
"Weather permitting, crews are working around the clock - literally - over the next few days to flood the rinks to get them in skating shape," city leaders wrote Monday. "Thanks for your patience and staying off the ice until we get the layers needed for strong ice for a great skating season."
Amid the pandemic, there are some changes skaters should know.
At least until January 4, warming houses will not be open. Rinks are limited to 15 people or fewer from no more than three households. Skaters must maintain six feet of distance from others, not from your household. No hockey or games will be allowed.
More info on Eagan's outdoor rinks can be found here.
