Description
We are making the difficult decision to rehome our dog, Bernie. Bernie is the sweetest little girl, at about 30lbs. The Texas shelter we got her from said they thought she was a 2 year old Picardy Sheepdog mix (debatable). She is friendly with dogs and children, athletic, and highly intelligent. She loves cuddles and lots of attention. Bernie is crate trained, and has come a long way in the months that we’ve had her. Unfortunately, the dynamic between her and our other dog has changed over time. Our other dog is still young, and really wants to play with Bernie. This has led to a situation where she has to constantly correct him, and he gets riled up and barks and nips at her ears. We knew there was a possibility the dogs might not be a great match, but we wanted to get her out of the overrun shelter. Additionally, Bernie’s athleticism makes it easy for her to jump our 4ft fence. She can even climb and balance on top of a chain link fence! She is cat/fox-like at times. I got her a GPS tracker, but I am worried that she will run into traffic because her love for chasing squirrels is so strong. I think Bernie would do great with someone who had a large yard with a 6ft or higher fence. She might also do well on a farm, because she seems to have some herding instincts and loves being outside. Her ideal living situation would be with someone who is home a lot, because she does better when she gets multiple walks/potty breaks throughout the day. I could also see her being the perfect little adventure dog to take on hikes. Bernie is scheduled to be spayed on June 8th, and she won’t be fully healed for a few weeks after. We are committed to Bernie’s wellbeing, and will not rehome her unless we find a great match, who will give her all the love that she deserves. Her rehoming fee is $300, which includes her spay, leash, foldable crate, food bowls, and bed.
