Help AC thermostat froze

Trane thermostat only a couple years old suddenly froze showing all functions at once, so now unable to set it to run AC at all. I replaced batteries. I turned off the power breaker to reset it. I tried to find instructions. Nothing worked. Senior just got out of surgery, scheduled to go for another surgery this week, so no mobility or money and haven’t found any handyman to count on in quite awhile. I need to keep meds cool too. Please help.
