Boulder Shelter for the Homeless A group of thoughtful and concerned Boulder residents established the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless in 1982. The Shelter has been continuously serving the most vulnerable members of our community since. Through the years, we have modified and evolved the programs and services we offer based on data, best practices, and community needs. Today, the mission of the Shelter is to create avenues to stable housing for our community’s homeless adults, from a foundation of supportive and safe shelter. The Shelter has a strong culture of collaboration, communication, compassion, dignity, and support, which yields an inclusive and engaging dynamic within the organization. Development Associate Boulder Shelter for the Homeless is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented individual to join our development team as Development Associate. Working directly with the Director of Development, this position will provide general donor support and ensure the integrity of donation data contributing to the growth and sustainability of fundraising revenue, currently $3.6 million annually. The Associate will serve as an integral support for the Shelter’s development activities and will assist with establishing a streamlined and highly functional development department through accurate and secure record keeping, timely gift processing, and individual donor communication. General Responsibilities Data Management ● Manage, update, and maintain donor database according to Development and Finance standards ● Ensure data integrity through accurate data entry and ongoing clean-up efforts ● Process all revenue ○ Process incoming and outgoing mail ○ Prepare and process bank deposits utilizing desktop deposit apparatus ○ Execute timely, accurate recording of all revenue (cash, checks, direct deposits, credit cards, stocks, in-kind, etc) ○ Generate timely acknowledgement letters ● Generate reports to support direct mail and Constant Contact campaigns ● Prepare development reports and queries as requested for department and Board meetings ● Integrate data from the volunteer program (Volgistics) into DonorPerfect (donor data platform) Communications ● Work with the Director of Development to edit, copy, and create acknowledgement letters for various types of donations ● Support and facilitate the “Home Team” recurring donation program ● Manage all tribute communications ● Communicate with donors by phone, email, and in person Development ● Provide support for the development plan, staff, projects, and special events ● Work with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure efficient and accurate recording of all revenue and acquisition of appropriate backup Qualifications and Skills Education & Experience ● Bachelor’s degree ● Two years professional experience in data management or related field Skills & Abilities ● Excellent communication skills: written and spoken ● Ability to be flexible and adaptable ● Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities ● Mission driven, self-starter who is able to meet deadlines, adapt to changing needs, and creatively solve problems Knowledge ● Proficiency with DonorPerfect or another donor data platform/CRM ● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite ● Knowledge of donor stewardship best practices ● Knowledge of best practices for handling cash and checks securely Behaviors ● Highly attentive to detail and accuracy ● Highly motivated with a strong work ethic ● Commitment to maintaining the security, confidentially and integrity of constituent data ● Strong interpersonal skills - collaborative work style ● Organizational, planning, and time management skills ● Give and receive feedback in a respectful and productive manner ● Personable, compassionate, and people-oriented ● Represents Boulder Shelter for the Homeless in alignment with the mission and core values: treat all with dignity, offer support and opportunity, achieve results through competence and creativity, and practice responsible stewardship Position status: ● Full-time ● Comprehensive benefits package that includes: health, dental, life, and disability insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, subsidized Eco-pass ● Wage starts at $23.10 per hour
