Every month, year after year, one full page is devoted to reprinting several cases from newspapers around the country describing actual situations where private citizens used a firearm to protect themselves, their family or other law abiding citizens. In addition, many submissions are not published simply due to magazine space limitations. Often these type of stories are not publicized by the mainstream media because it doesn’t fit their personal agenda. It happens a lot more than you might think. (I submitted a such a case that happened in Tacoma.) In many cases the would-be victims of crime don’t actually fire their gun, but simply make the criminal aware they could. Law enforcement personnel rarely stop crime. Usually they can only investigate a crime after it occurs. Remember the old saying, when a person is under attack and seconds count, the police are just minutes away.
