Description
On the evening of Nov. 18, 2021, a store employee in Seattle, Wash., called 911 to report an armed robbery and shooting. Arriving law-enforcement officers were told that four or five armed males, wearing hooded jackets and masks, held the store employees at gunpoint while they stole money and merchandise. However, one of the employees was able to retrieve a firearm and shoot at the men, causing them to flee. Two of the suspects later went to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Once released, the men were arrested and booked for robbery in the first degree. The remaining suspects had not yet been found. The suspects, at least one of whom was armed, entered the store and started threatening employees and demanding merchandise. The armed employee shot at the suspects, wounding two and causing all to flee. Police later found one of the wounded men, who was on parole during this incident, at a fast-food restaurant and transported him to a hospital, where he died. Police also found a second wounded suspect and transported him to the hospital; he was expected to survive and was charged with armed robbery. Detectives were still searching for the third suspect. (qctimes.com, Davenport, Iowa, 1/21/22) A 32-year-old healthcare worker turned the tables on a would-be carjacker just before midnight on Jan. 10. Upon arriving for work at the home of a patient, the healthcare worker was confronted by an 18-year-old man who allegedly pulled a gun on him. The suspect approached the vehicle on the driver side and drew his firearm. The worker, who had a valid license to carry, drew his own firearm and shot the suspect through his car window, causing him to run away. While investigating, the authorities were notified that a suspect who somewhat matched the description of the perpetrator was taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds to the cheek, neck and thumb, where they subsequently arrested him.
