Evanston Present and Future & Mari Enterprise is partnering with the producers of Opal's Walk, non profit Unity Unlimited, Inc. Ms. Opal was named 2021 Texan of the Year, Fort Worth Inc.'s Person of the Year, and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize! The National Opals Walk for Freedom campaign in Evanston IL, will showcase the unifying impact of Juneteenth to bring people together to celebrate the national holiday and will also have the international performance team Jesse White Tumblers a part of the parade! With the focus of showcasing cities across the country walking simultaneously with Ms. Opal on Saturday, June 18th, we support her goal to educate the nation on the significance of the holiday and give $6.19 of every registration to the National Juneteenth Museum Capital Campaign! Parade route & details: The parade will start route at 10 a.m. staging at the Robert Crown Center area lot. Parade will travel down Dodge street and end at the Civic Center parking lot (Ingraham Park) with additional festivities, food and vendors. *Day of registration for the parade will be accepted but we highly recommend registering ahead of time* Each parade registration comes with a free Juneteenth Opals Walk t-shirt.
