Press release from the City of Carmel: May 26, 2022 About 30 lane miles of Carmel city streets are in line for a fresh coat of paving as the City of Carmel's summer street paving gets underway. The City plans to spend more than $4.5 million on projects across the City. Some of the preliminary work has already begun and as the warm weather continues to take hold, more work will be done. "Paving streets is not something that makes headlines or earns clicks online. But as much as we focus our efforts on building new roundabouts and increasing our multi-purpose trails and pathways, it is also important to keep our existing roadways in top condition," said Mayor Jim Brainard. "We work hard to create a high quality of life in Carmel and that includes having smooth, pothole-free roads on which to drive in our city." Each paving project begins with preliminary concrete and curb repairs that can take a few weeks to complete before the big job of milling the top surface of blacktop and repaving it with a new layer of about 1.25 inches in thickness. Typical milling and paving projects take 3-5 days to complete and require lane restrictions. 2022 Project List by Council DistrictNORTHEAST Foster GroveBrookshire Parkway from E.
