Description
MOORESVILLE, NC — As we move away from the Christmas holiday, some residents may be looking to remove their Christmas trees. There are two ways to remove your trees in Iredell County.
Fire officials recommend removing your tree after Christmas or when it is dry. The National Fire Protection Association says dried-out trees present a fire hazard and should not be left in homes or garages or placed against a home.
When you should remove the tree depends on when you got it, what condition it was in, and whether it was properly watered, according to the fire department.
The Town of Mooresville's sanitation will collect Christmas trees left on the curb, placed at least three feet from any obstruction.
Residents can also dispose of trees at the following sites:
Mooresville Transfer Station, 158 Macleod Drive, Mooresville Twin Oaks Solid Waste Facility, 354 Twin Oaks Road, Statesville Harmony Convenience Site, 866 West Memorial Highway, Harmony Snow Creek Convenience Site, 3918 Wilkesboro Hwy., Statesville West Convenience Site, 257 Watermelon Road, Statesville All ornaments, decorations and stands must be removed before disposal.
All waste sites will be closed New Year's Day on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, and will reopen on Saturday, Jan. 2 with regular hours.
