MALVERN, PA —Faridah Ismaila, a 6th grader at Great Valley Middle School, won the 14th annual Doodle for Google competition, a contest where K-12 students across the nation have the opportunity to create their own version of the Google logo.
School officials announced Faridah's award at school assembly Thursday.
Faridah is one of the 54 winners representing the states and territories in the competition. There were several thousand entries.
She is now competing to have her art on the Google homepage. The five top vote will be announced to the public.
The top winner will then be awarded $30,000 college scholarship and the winner's school will receive a $50,000 tech package towards the establishment or improvement of a computer lab or technology program.
Voting is open to the public until Friday, June 3, here.
