Juneteenth, is a commemoration of the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on June 19th 1865, after the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth recently became a federal holiday in 2021. So, in celebration we planned a get together for all to come and celebrate the holiday with music, food, and dance.
