Press release from Hopkins Public Schools:
May 26 2022
North Junior High students were spotted gardening in the courtyard earlier this week as part of a larger courtyard revitalization project. The North Junior High Science department and media center's Makerspace teamed up to create an outdoor investigation lab in the interior courtyard.
On Tuesday, a group of students began the revitalization by planting wildflowers. The goal for the garden will be to connect students with the natural world. It will also act as a flex seating space for any teacher who wants to take students outside for their class. The media center's Makerspace will use it for investigative projects like tagging migrating monarchs.
The project was funded by the Hopkins Education Foundation thanks to a request from North Junior High's John Leaf and Jen Legatt.
