FRONT DESK at Naval Museum - Volunteers 55 years and over (Bremerton) Position Description – Front Desk Summary: Volunteers stationed at the front desk are responsible for greeting and orienting visitors, answering questions regarding Navy history, and performing light administrative tasks. Front desk volunteers are the face of the museum and help facilitate the visitor’s experience. Major Responsibilities: - Welcoming visitors and giving a brief overview of the Museum. - Answering questions regarding Navy and local history (training provided). - Light administrative tasks such as answering the phone, forwarding research and artifact donation requests, and visitor count tracking. - Possible docent work if interested. Qualifications: - Excellent verbal communication skills - Excellent interpersonal skills - Self-motivated but able to follow directions - Ability to work as a team - Knowledge of local and military history is a plus but NOT required Additional Comments: - Shifts are typically 3 hours long, from either 10-1 PM and/or 1-4 PM. - Must be able to volunteer a minimum of 3 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months or more. ************************************************************************************* WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE AMERICORPS RSVP (RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM) The AmeriCorps RSVP is the nation's largest network for volunteers age 55 and over. RSVP is sponsored by Lutheran Community Services Northwest, a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of the people it serves. The growing segment of our older population is vital to strengthening our communities through their interest in helping others. As an RSVP volunteer, you are strengthening the positive impact people 55 and over have in our communities. Our focus is to incorporate meaningful volunteer opportunities that provide purpose and a way to give back to the community. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers as it matches their personal interests with opportunities to serve in their communities. Current RSVP volunteer positions include local food banks, meals on wheels, congregate meal sites, non-profit thrift stores, museums and a community library throughout Kitsap County.
