There are dozens of semiautomatic rifles yet only the most popular AR15 is called an assault weapon, why is that other than for political reasons, the poster child of all that's evil to Democrats about guns? If you put a tail fin on a Dodge Charger does that make it a NASCAR racer? So why does making a semi automatic rifle styled after one in the military suddenly become a weapon of mass destruction over any other rifle in existence? It doesn't this all left wing political partisanship. Our military doesn't use AR15's and they are experts on assault weapons, fact of the matter is any gun used to assault someone is by definition an assault weapon, so is a knife or hammer or your laptop if you hit someone with it. People are all caught up on these make believe definitions by Democrats that are provably untrue. You could ban AR15's tomorrow and there'd still be dozens of similar designed semi automatic rifles to buy. The NRA spends just over $2 million a year lobbying Congress, that's lunch money on any day Democrats get treated to meals by their own lobbyists. Contrast that to trial lawyers who give 80% of their lobbying money to Democrats for a total of $120 million a year. Pharmaceutical companies spend around $220 million per year lobbying Congress. Trying to tell us the NRA's measly $2 million per year is blocking whatever it is Democrats claim they are is just too stupid for words. Assuming every penny of theirs went to Republicans which it doesn't in Congress that's less than $7,800 per year per politician and yet you want us to believe the NRA's donation make a huge difference influencing them. Oh please spare me this B.S. rhetoric! What happened in Texas had nothing to do with the NRA so cut the crap. If Dems who control the Federal purse strings actually put money where their mouth is, no not on prostitutes but on mental health things like this would rarely happen. They don't because they don't care, they only care about murdering the innocent unborn and celebrating they can have their doctors crush the skulls of babies in the womb or tear them apart limb by limb. Fact of the matter is more people die from abortions every year than being shot and killed by guns, it would take 10 years of death by guns to catch up to one year of death by abortion. The original poster is correct. The NRA is only a great source of campaign revenue in the same way that the oil companies are. "The people" don't matter to these politicians who allow anyone to purchase a gun, let alone a war machine with the title ASSAULT WEAPON, when it comes to garnishing campaign money in order to create propaganda based campaign commercials so that they can get into office with the promise of 'helping the people'. Any intelligent gun(s) owner knows what responsibility is. That is, we don't shoot people or allow other people to shoot people. We would never put a gun in the hand of anyone without proper training, nor would we hand a gun to anyone with dangerous mental problems. That would be insane and could possibly put me, my family, or friends in severe jeopardy. As an American, I'm happy that there are many responsible gun owners in America. Lord help anyone who tries to invade us. But watching kids or anyone, but especially kids, get slaughtered on a monthly basis by weapons of war is just puking sick. California has strict gun laws...but California also has responsible gun owners.
