Press release from the Snohomish County Government:
May 24, 2022
A portion of the Centennial Trail will be rededicated on Memorial Day in honor of Snohomish County residents who perished during the Global War on Terror (GWOT), 9/11/2001 to the present. A sculpture by a local artist and interpretive kiosk are also a part of the veterans memorial. The memorial will be the first in Snohomish County to specifically honor military veterans killed in post-9/11 conflicts. The memorial will be located at the approach to the Haller Bridge where it crosses the Stillaguamish River. This location along the Centennial Trail is a popular destination for recreation and will provide a peaceful setting for reflection and prayer to honor the brave people lost to recent military conflicts.
This important memorial has been in progress for a few years and has come to fruition with the collaboration of many entities, including Snohomish County leadership, the Snohomish County Art Commission, the City of Arlington, and others. A ceremony will take place at 9 am on 5/30/22 at Haller Bridge in Arlington.
