Description

Celebrate Summer Solstice with us. Have a blast out on the farm dancing a super easy & fun, mini "flash-mob-style" dance to support Newhall Fields Community Farm's regenerative work. Then stay and learn a bit about farming yourself! Dance for you! Dance for the farm. Plus, support Newhall Field's Summer Youth Crew and contribute to feeding the local community all in the process! ___ AGENDA: SUGGESTED ARRIVAL: 15-20 min. early to park and walk across the street to the farm's field. 9:30-9:45am: WELCOME - Arrive on the farm and join us for an opening circle to connect with each other and acknowledge the land. 9:45-10:45am: DANCE! All movement styles and levels welcome. Be guided through a fun community dance process. Learn simple, core moves, plus add in your own, making it as easy or advanced as you like. Dance, feel good + support regenerative agriculture! 10:45-11am: BIO-BREAK - Relax after dancing. Bring your own snack, water and/or lunch if you like! 11-11:50am: VOLUNTEER ON THE FARM - Have fun helping out, learning farming skills, which could include a range of tasks depending on the needs of the season (i.e., bed preparation, planting, harvesting, loosening soil, trimming/pruning, etc.) 11:50am-12pm: CLOSING CIRCLE - Celebrate the day and share meaningful takeaways. ___ VARIOUS TICKET OPTIONS TO HELP MEET OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL: $2,022 1. Suggested donation ticket of $25 2. Option to donate what you wish 3. Free ticket option for accessibility 75% of proceeds go to Newhall Fields's efforts to increase access to high-quality, nutritious, local produce for the community. Help fund their Summer Youth Crew (7 young people + a Youth Crew leader) to work on the farm for 7 weeks and earn an hourly wage. Youth will work directly on planting, harvesting, soil fertility, composting, and more. Growing food exposes them to the nutritional needs of the community, while building their knowledge of the natural world, food systems, and healthy eating. As 80% of harvests are donated to local emergency food providers, they will literally be learning, earning, feeding their neighbors, and forging wonderful friendships. 25% of proceeds go to Dance for Humanity and its creative placemaking efforts to bring people and communities together through dance to support eco-social causes. Thank you for signing up for our event! We appreciate your support + donations, and look forward to dancing & farming with you! CAN'T MAKE THE EVENT, BUT STILL WISH TO DONATE TO THE FARM?
