UPDATE, 1 P.M.: Nassau County police say the 86-year-old man died of his injuries. He has still not been publicly identified. MINEOLA, NY — An elderly man is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Mineola. According to police, the 86-year-old man was crossing 2nd Street at Roosevelt Place around 10:30 p.m. when he was hit by a Toyota sedan being driven by a 60-year-old man. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, and is listed in critical condition. The driver remained at the scene. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
