Join Vanessa Anspaugh in this unique workshop intensive: The Coaching Project. Anspaugh will work with participants on two fronts; creating work on dancers for her current piece entitled, Late Mournings, and the other as a one-on-one adviser/mentor. This is an opportunity for both the dancer and or dance-maker to have a more intimate experience of Vanessa’s creative process and the rigorous experience of being a collaborating dancer in part of a quickly constructed section of professional piece. Late Mournings will premiere at New York Live Arts in NYC in November and participants will be credited in Anspaugh’s program as contributing dancers. LATE MOURNINGS: Together we will improvise, somatically research and generate movement material for a section of her new evening-length work. The creative process will culminate in an informal showing on June 10, 2022. COACHING: Along with the studio rehearsal times listed below, Vanessa will be offering collaborators one on one “coaching” (or mentoring) meetings where dancers can utilize Anspaugh in any way that would be useful to them. She is available for choreographic feedback, dramaturgical conversations, performance technique work, and general dance career advice or perspective and of course, she is always up for “just coffee.” Anspaugh is a nationally known and respected choreographer who loves making dances with individuals who are open-minded, risk takers and love the creative process. Various technical backgrounds are welcome, and a friendly attitude and a willingness to get lost is required.
