Description

We will walk on new wide paved trail (tick free) by Assabet River Bluff reserve, and a mix of woods and meadows to Duggan Pond and White Pond. We will attempt to learn bird songs and hear and hopefully see these birds: Green Heron, nesting Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Red-shouldered Hawk, Belted Kingfisher, Pileated Woodpecker, Great Crested Flycatcher, Wood Thrush, Pine Warbler, Indigo Bunting, Scarlet Tanager and others.Meet at Peter Alden's home at 11 Riverside Avenue, West Concord. Take Route 62 west from Route 2 one exit west of Emerson Hospital exit. At fork in West Concord stay left on Rte 62 to traffic light at church/library. Go left there (Pine St) for two short blacks. Left on Riverside. Next to last house (red) on right. Optional dinner at a local restaurant afterwards. What to bring: Dress comfortably. Bring binoculars, camera, jacket, water bottle, bird checklist (if desired). Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain. NOTE about registration: Please register as soon as possible as the event is limited to 12 participants. Added to the price will be a small Eventbrite processing fee.
