ISO medium size puppy

I’m looking for a medium size puppy for my young children. The dog would be primarily for my son who has ADHD. I think my son would benefit emotionally with a furry best friend. We live in a apartment but spend plenty of time at the beach and park. Our apartment complex does not allow German Shepards, pit bulls, boxers, or Rottweilers. Ideally I’m thinking of a dog that will be 45 pounds max grown up. A dog thats calm and easy going 80 percent of the time but can still keep up on beach days and hiking for 3-5 miles. I hope I can find a dog for free but I can pay a max of $300 for the right pet. Thank you
