On June 1st, licensing fees will increase to $30 for altered dogs and $35 for unaltered dogs. Dogs with an expired license as of June 15th will also receive a $50 animal violation citation.
Late fees are based on the date of receipt. Please account for postal delivery delays. If we do not receive your application before the last day of the month, the following month's late fees will apply. Unpaid license fees, late fees, and citations are cumulative.
Your dog's license expires on December 31st each year. Fortunately, we have many ways for you to renew your license:
Dog Licenses are available either via mail, online, or in the Office of the Town Clerk, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday, Wednesday & Thursday, Tuesday 8:30 am - 7:00 pm and Friday 8:30 am - 1:00 pm.
Please remember: We cannot issue a license without a current rabies vaccination!

Digital file (PDF, JPEG, TIFF, etc.) of your dog's current rabies certificate from your veterinarian;Your Veterinarian's phone number;Credit card or checking account payment information.* Use the link below if you currently have a dog licensed in Chelmsford. You can also email your completed application and rabies vaccination to [email protected].
If you have a new dog that has never been licensed in town, please come into the Town Clerk's Office or email [email protected] to license for the first time.
