BOSTON, MA — The Strokes have dropped out of the 2022 Boston Calling Music Festival, a three-day event the band was supposed to headline after a two-year pandemic fueled hiatus.
On Friday, organizers of Boston Calling said The Strokes would no longer be performing at the Memorial Day Weekend festival, taking place from May 27-29. The band said they postponed the show due to a member testing positive for COVID-19.
The Strokes and the Foo Fighters were both set to headline the 2022 edition of the festival, but they both canceled. Nine Inch Nails will now be playing a second set on Saturday, May 28.
"Due to a positive COVID-19 case in The Strokes, we must regretfully cancel tomorrow night's appearance at Boston Calling," the band said in a Twitter post. "We are incredibly sorry and we will do our best to get back to Boston soon."
