Last night, the television was going in the background, and they were going on and on about the latest massacre of little children. It dawned on me. It happens every time. • The far right politicians trot out their slogans ("guns don't kill," "nothing stops a bad man with a gun...") Whether they believe all that or not, they play to their base to get their paycheck. • The far left protest, carrying signs with pictures of hand guns in a circle, with a diagonal line drawn through. The politicians play to their base, whether they believe it or not, whether they carry or not, they say what they need to say to get their paychecks. • No matter how poorly they behaved, law enforcement will grimly crow about their bravery, and how they have matters in hand. • The "moral majority" (moderate Republicans and Democrats) wring their hands and claim nothing can be done. They alone tell the truth because nothing does get done. It is going to happen. Sooner or later a young, angry black man. Perhaps a group of young black men like in Columbine. They will slaughter our children and finally the right will get it. They will get the outrage and see the folly in the position that their objet de désir is not keeping us any safer. Only then will we see the seeds of change to end the madness.
