Ellington Motorcycle Driver Hurt In Wednesday Crash In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — Police on Manchester are investigating a collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle near Center Street and Henderson Road. The crash occurred at 2:19 p.m. Center Street was closed between Roosevelt Street and Cooper Street while police began piecing together what happened. The road was re-opened just before 5 p.m., police said. Emergency medical care was given on-scene to the motorcycle operator, a 22-year-old man from Ellington, and he was later transported via ambulance to Hartford Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, police said. The operator of the vehicle involved, a 48-year-old male from Manchester, was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation, police said. A preliminary investigation showed that the both the car and the motorcycle had been traveling westbound on Center Street just prior to the crash, but the chain of events leading to the collision are undetermined, police said. The incident is being investigated by the Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit and the Metro Traffic Services Crash Reconstruction Team.
