MERCER COUNTY, NJ - Two people were seriously injured when the driver of the car lost control and struck a tree in Hamilton Township, police said. An 11-year-old boy sitting in the back seat was uninjured, authorities said.
On Thursday at 5:50 p.m., Ashley Williams, 35, of Hamilton was driving southbound on Pitman Avenue near Rennie Street, when she lost control of the car and struck a tree, according to Hamilton police.
The car, a 2003 Acura TL, continued traveling southbound and Williams was ejected before the vehicle came to a stop, police said.
Her front-seat passenger, Cedric Williams, 59, had to be extricated from the vehicle by Hamilton Fire Division. The driver and passenger suffered serious injuries and were taken to Capital Health Hospital at Fuld.
The 11-year-old boy in the backseat was uninjured and released to a family member, police said.
The crash is being investigated by officers C. Clugsten, B. DiBiasi and F. La Vacca of the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit.
