POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — The Point Pleasant Beach Offshore Grand Prix is set to be held June 10-12 in the waters off Point Pleasant Beach, race organizers said.
The race, organized by the New Jersey Offshore Powerboat Racing Association, is sponsored by Jersey Mike's Subs.
"The Offshore Grand Prix is one of the most storied traditions in Point Pleasant Beach," Mayor Paul Kanitra said. "It is synonymous with the good, clean, family fun that our town is known for."
"It's a vital weekend for our business community as well," Kanitra said. "My grandfather owned the Harbor Lights Motor Lodge on Broadway, and I grew up hearing stories of how much he looked forward to Rocky Aoki staying there and the economic impact all the teams brought with them."
"I am proud to keep this legacy and vital event alive today," Kanitra said. "On behalf of all of Point Pleasant Beach, I'd like to welcome everyone to this year's race and our beautiful seaside community!"
NJOPRA is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit group and has been the organizer of the race in Point Pleasant Beach since 1969. Anyone interested in becoming sponsors or who wants to volunteer should check the website.
