NEW JERSEY — New Jersey has some insanely beautiful areas all across the state. But this town specifically was named one of the most beautiful in America, according to travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler. That town is the gorgeous Cape May, which is entirely designated a National Historic Landmark as the Cape May Historic District. It is ranked among other beautiful towns like Lake Placid, New York, and Nantucket, Massachusetts. New Jersey residents know that many places at the Jersey Shore are insanely beautiful, but Cape May is certainly special. There is an abundance of beauty in this quaint, charming city. The magazine said: "There's lots to love about Cape May, all the way at the very tip of the Parkway: A perfect marriage of charm and history, the town's historic Victorian district, and miles of intricate, candy-colored manses make for prime early-morning-stroll viewing." The magazine adds that Cape May also has great birdwatching and whale-watching. There are nearly 600 preserved Victorian homes in Cape May, which claims to be America's oldest seaside resort. Take a tour of the beautiful houses, or walk along the beach searching for Cape May Diamonds, which are polished quartz. Check out the Visit NJ page for Cape May for more information. Some B&Bs are located inside these beautiful Victorian homes, and a few even offer afternoon tea, according to CapeMay.com. Condé Nast Traveler recommended The Virginia Hotel, a luxury hotel inside a restored 1879 building. The magazine called it a readers' favorite, "thanks to super comfortable beds and a great in-house restaurant." There is no shortage of things to enjoy in Cape May, from beaches to dining to shopping. And of course, enjoying the beautiful views. What other NJ towns do you think should have made the list?
