Press release from the City of Columbia Police Department: May 12, 2022 Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have charged a 32-year-old man in connection with a shooting investigation that happened last month. CPD officers and members of the United States Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force located Matthew Byrd at a Cayce, S.C. home today. The suspect is being charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. The suspect is accused of shooting a male acquaintance during an isolated argument while at a Brennen Road home on April 28, 2022. All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law. This press release was produced by the City of Columbia Police Department.
