Calling all #Girldads to Join the 2022 Father’s Day - Daddy & Daughter Painting Party Kindred Creatives in partnership with Dr. Lindsey Wilson will be hosting a 2022 Father’s Day celebration. Calling all #Girldads to join us for an afternoon of fun on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Kindred Creatives Art and Literacy Press for a Daddy & Daughter Painting Party. Tickets go on sale today, May 26, 2022. Cicely Renee Carr is the founder of Kindred Creatives, which is a space that showcases BIPOC authors and creative products. Kindred Creatives amplifies the love of literature in various forms, with the mission to promote the love of creativity, literacy, and entrepreneurship for all ages. “This event is special because it provides a safe space for Black fathers to show up just as they are and spend quality daddy-daughter time with their kids '' Dr. Wilson reports, “Research continues to show how active Black fathers are in their children’s lives and how these men take pride in their fatherhood role, to which they identify as of high importance.” Dr. Wilson, who has studied the narratives of Black fathers and works to counter mainstream society's deficit-based perspective of Black fathers, recently released her second book “My Daddy Did it!” This children’s book is about a young African American girl who shares with her best friend at school all of the amazing memories she and her father have created. The book is in alignment with Kindred Creatives' vision of a space where community members can find artwork, written works, videos, music, and more by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Fathers attending the Daddy-Daughter Painting Party, should get ready to spend a special afternoon with their daughter as this event will include a copy of the book My Daddy Did it!, a painting party, crafts, a keepsake photo, and light refreshments.
