WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ —A Franklin Township police officer has been charged in connection with a fatal Route 31 crash in Washington Township earlier this year, according to the Warren County Prosecutor's Office.
Lawrence Stiscia is charged with second-degree death by auto, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years in prison, police said.
Stiscia's vehicle collided with a motorcycle while traveling north on Route 31 in Washington Township on March 18, killing the motorcycle's driver, according to the prosecutor's office.
The identity of the motorcycle driver has not been made public.
According to the prosecutor's office, an investigation revealed that Stiscia caused the accident and was intoxicated at the time of the crash, with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.201 percent.
Stiscia had also previously received traffic citations for driving while intoxicated and careless driving, police said.
Following his first appearance in Warren County Superior Court, Stiscia was released under pre-trial supervision.
