Press release from the City of Roseville: May 25, 2022 Join us for summer fun and learning for ages 8 to 12. A few of our day camps and classes are filled, but you can still get a spot by clicking the links below! For all events, wear closed toed shoes and clothes you can get dirty. Day Camps First Hunters Jul 11, 2022 - Jul 15, 2022 9:00 AM - Noon Under the guidance of our highly trained staff, learn how to make primitive tools to create your own atlatl (spear-thrower) and dart (spear)! At the same time improve your stalking, tracking and hunting abilities then use your new knowledge in a friendly competition at the end of the camp. Because of the skills necessary to create these items, concentration and manual dexterity are necessary requirements for all participants. Maidu Games, Toys, and Music Jul 18, 2022 - Jul 22, 2022 9:00 AM - Noon Learn how to make and play the traditional games and toys of the Maidu People. Create your own game sets, acorn tops and whistles from materials found in nature using only the kind of stone and bone tools crafted by local Native people. Use hand ground natural pigment paints to decorate your creations. Classes Stone Tools Jul 9, 2022 9:00 AM - Noon Create your very own stone tool at this one day class. Each participant will take home their own tool created using techniques and knowledge passed down through hundreds of generations. Must be 8 years or older. We Dig Archaeology Jul 30, 2022 9:00 AM - Noon Discover all the amazing history around you. This one day class will explore the archaeology and history at the Maidu Museum's historic site trail.
