PETALUMA, CA — A Sacramento County man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and elder abuse Monday when he crashed his car at a gas station, the Petaluma Police Department said. Around 6:15 p.m. Monday, personnel from the Petaluma police and fire departments responded to a gas station at 4998 Petaluma Blvd. North where the man had crashed into at least one object at the gas station, police said in a news release. Police alleged that when officers approached the driver, 57-year-old Felix Paradise III of Citrus Heights, he displayed signs of alcohol intoxication. Paradise's car appeared to have been in a collision and he had an elderly passenger, police said. The 80-year-old passenger was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. Paradise was also taken to a hospital; after he was medically cleared he was booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of elder abuse and DUI causing injury, both felony charges, police said. His bail was set at $100,000 and he remained in custody Tuesday afternoon pending a court appearance set for Wednesday, jail records showed.
