new bassist w/jazz training to connect with cover band

I'm a sax player but started dabbling with a bass a few years ago. After learning scales, some shapes, and a few tunes the next step seems like playing covers to get the groove under the fingers. Any genre is fine, just trying to learn a bunch of parts and play tunes with a band. Did a bachelor's in jazz studies about 15 years ago. I drive and share a rehearsal space 3-minutes from I-5 in Seattle. Currently playing a mim p-bass through a GK1x15.
