Description
Eagle Eye Brands in partnership with Georgian Wine House is pleased to announce a new seminar in our Frontier Winemaking Series – ‘The First Frontier: Georgia, the Birthplace of Wine’ in Detroit on Wednesday, June 1st from 12 P.M. to 4 P.M. at Ladder 4 Wine Bar in Detroit. Offering a two-part seminar and a comprehensive walk-around tasting, this event welcomes trade buyers and staff from around the state to participate in a dynamic and immersive event highlighting the diverse landscape, indigenous varietals, natural practices, and winemakers of Georgia. During our walk around tasting, you will have the opportunity to sample new, artisan producers now available in Michigan through presale and established favorites. The informational portion seminar will be divided into two parts focusing on the 9 distinct wine making regions in west and east Georgia presented by Noel Brockett, President of Georgian Wine House. Part 1: Georgia’s West – Fast and Vibrant Most of the US wine community is introduced to Georgia through wines from the east – but we’re turning things on their head and offering you a chance to experience Georgia from a new direction. We’ll look at the landscapes and the small-production artisans operating with far less infrastructure than their counterparts in the east yet who produce outstanding bright, crisp, and serious wines. Part 2: Georgia’s East – Refined and Elegant We’ll turn to the East, home to the Kakhaeti region that first sparked international interest in Georgian wines. Kakhaeti dominates the Georgian wine landscape for good reason: large farmable valleys, historic traditions, and infrastructure all of which help to yield elegant, refined wines. We will discuss established producers and compare them to newer ones in the Michigan market including, the up and coming Kartli region, home to Tbilisi. Program: 12-1 p.m.| Seminar Part 1: Georgia’s West - Fast and Vibrant 1-3 p.m. | Walk around tasting with light snacks 3-4 p.m. | Seminar Part 2: Georgia’s East – Refined and Elegant
