Press release from the City of Roseville: May 24, 2022 The City released its 2021 All-Department Equity update to City Council at the regular Council meeting on Monday, May 23. Each City department leader spoke about how their departments have focused on helping Roseville achieve its goal where, "the predictability of success is not based on race or ethnicity." It takes hard work and consistency to get the results we want... and we are focused on longterm outcomes," says equity and inclusion manager, Thomas Brooks. "There's a lot of work ahead to make sure we're on the right track with our aspirations. From Police and Fire, to Parks and Recreation, each City department is charged with making race and equity a priority in decision-making for their projects and events. In 2021, we went through all of our policies to look at them from an equity lens," says Roseville Police Chief Erika Scheider. "We looked at how we could limit traffic stops to focus on public safety and moving violations, we also have been implementing creative ways to diversify our workforce, including our Pathways to Policing program that is bringing new voices and perspectives into law enforcement. "The City of Roseville is dedicated to creating an inclusive community where the predictability of success is not based on race or ethnicity. To accomplish this goal, all city departments will prioritize racial equity in their planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs, policies, and services. The City of Roseville is committed to taking tangible steps to normalize, organize, and implement racial equity principles and tools, with an eye toward impactful and sustainable outcomes that create a more equitable community."
