Press release from the Park Ridge Public Library: We are kicking off Summer Reading Club with live music, ice cream treats and a tie-dye party! Join us Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the library lawn. Bring a picnic blanket and your own food and beverage and enjoy an afternoon with the community. The first 200 readers registered for Summer Reading Club who check in at the event will get a free serving of Triple Scoop'd Ice Cream. Register in advance starting May 20 or at the event. Register for Summer Reading Club at beanstack.parkridgelib.org. Registration for Live on the Lawn is not required. Other highlights: Ice cream will also be available for purchase while supplies last. "Summer is just around the corner, and we're excited to kick off our Summer Reading Club in a new way with this community event," said Library Director Joanna Bertucci. "We invite patrons to come over, register for the club and enjoy an afternoon with friends and neighbors on the library lawn." The theme for this year's Summer Reading Club is 'Read Beyond the Beaten Path.' Participants are encouraged to not just get outside and read, but read something new. Try a debut author, a new genre or a different format like an audiobook. Registration for Summer Reading Club begins Friday, May 20, and participants can begin tracking on Friday, June 3. There are challenges for all ages: Prizes for Summer Reading Club are donated by the Friends of the Park Ridge Library.
