The Competition: The Cast Iron Battle at Fort Gaines presented by Alabama Coasting, South Mobile County Tourism and Bama-Q Productions is a World Food Championships Quailifer in Seafood. Set for September 3rd (Labor Day Weekend), this cooking competition is part of our Bama-Q Grilling Series which consists of a dozen events around the region. The Bama-Q Cast iron Skillet Challenge will feature 30 top cook teams creating their best “surf & turf” dish as well as sampling tasty seafood bites in a Peoples Choice contest. Registration is $100 per team, a commitment to use cast iron as the primary cooking tool, and serving a minimum of 100 seafood samples in a Peoples' Choice contest (These can be prepared in advance.). Chefs and cook teams will be competing for a prize purse of $2000,, a cool trophy, bragging rights and a Golden Ticket to the 2022 World Food Championships in Dallas, Texas. First place - $1000, Second place - $500, Third place - $250. Peoples; Choice - $250. Detailed rules and regulations will be emailed to all registered competitors.
