Teen Musicians / Bands - Connection Ideas?

Anyone have teens looking to connect with other musicians? Having trouble finding other younger musicians around - any tips or ideas on how to help network, or others that have kids looking too? I have a son going into high school looking for more opportunities to play. He primarily plays guitar but can play bass as well. He's into most kinds of rock/roots/soul/funk/R&B and is an advanced player for his age - good enough to lead instrumental surf & blues standards with my band. I know of school of rock, etc, but he takes lessons with a great teacher, and lessons with SoR are a prerequisite to joining the groups there. Thanks for any tips
