Excavation contractor needed

We are looking for an excavation contractor. My wife and I own an 8,000 sf building and are acting as our own general contractor in remodeling our building. Included in our plans is the installation of a fire sprinkler system throughout the building. We've got good relationships with many contractors, plumber, hvac, electrical, sprinkler installer, but we are having difficulty finding an excavation contractor. We need to excavate into our fairly busy street to access an old city water main and have another contractor install a "hot tap" to connect our new sprinkler system to water. Would love to receive contact info on or from someone, licensed and bonded, who could take on this work. It would have to be a time and material contract because we won't know what we will need to do until we do some digging.
