Press release from the JAX Chamber: May 26, 2022 The satellite location will be led by fellowship-trained and board-certified surgeons Husain Abbas, MD, and Alexander Crean, MD, who will utilize the clinic as an additional point of access for patient office visits. Dr. Abbas was trained in the prestigious Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) and currently serves as the medical director of the HCA Florida Memorial Hospital Weight Loss Surgery Center, and is also the program director of Robotic Surgery. His expertise extends to a wide array of gastroesophageal disorders, anti-reflux surgery, complex hernia repairs, endocrine, oncology and bariatric procedures. Dr. Abbas holds a specialized interest in utilizing robotic technology to treat surgical diseases of gastrointestinal tract and obesity. Dr. Crean is a colorectal surgeon at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital and is on the National Colorectal Workgroup with the Sarah Cannon Research Institute of HCA Healthcare, and is a current Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. After completing a five-year residency in general surgery, he pursued an additional year of fellowship training to specialize in colorectal surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital in Long Island, NY. He offers a unique minimally invasive surgical approach to treating various intestinal and abdominal conditions, including colorectal cancer, diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
