Press release from the McGee Campaign:
May 26, 2022
State Representative TreneƩ McGee of the 116th House District was officially endorsed by the Democratic Party on Tuesday at the West Haven Democratic Convention.
"I am proud to be the endorsed Democratic nominee for State Representative of the 116th District," said Rep. McGee. "In just a few short months, I've been able to make a long-lasting impact. I have always worked to be a powerful voice for my community, and it is truly an honor to have the opportunity to serve West Haven, the town where I was born and raised. I look forward to engaging with residents over the next five months and having meaningful conversations about the issues that matter most to them."
First elected in December 2021, Rep. McGee has been a powerful advocate during her first term in office. She was a co-sponsor of the historic H.B. 5001, which is a comprehensive bill aimed at addressing the children's mental health crisis in Connecticut. Rep. McGee also championed the historic tax cuts which passed this session, providing relief to residents across the 116th district at a time when they need it most.
Rep. McGee is the youngest black woman to serve in the Connecticut House of Representatives and the first black state legislator from West Haven.
