ANDOVER, MA — Andover's Public Schools will provide increased mental health services for students, staff and families in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas, tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 19 students and two teachers on Tuesday. "The grief in the Uvalde community can be felt here in Andover, and I understand the wide range of emotions that many of our students, staff and families may experience in the coming days and weeks," said Andover Public School Superintendent Dr. Magda Parvey. Andover school's mental health team met last night to prepare for today's arrival of students and staff and are available if they need support. In addition, families are encouraged to reach out to school administrators and social workers if they need assistance. "Please know that the safety and security of our staff and students continue to be our utmost priorities in Andover Public Schools. We work in partnership with the Andover Police Department and town officials to ensure our schools are secure," said Parvey. Patch has reached out to school officials to determine if any additional security measures are being taken in the wake of the Texas shootings. Members of the Andover community are encouraged to speak up if they have any concerns.
