Description

The Fred Wickham Caravan blends country, soul and rock and roll into a sound that can only be called pure Americana. Opening the show will be Expassionates, the band of singer/songwriter Scott Easterday, which is made of an eclectic mix of Kansas City's finest rock, country and jazz musicians. FRED WICKHAM CARAVAN Singer/songwriter/guitarist Fred Wickham is best known for his work with Hadacol, the popular Kansas City based quartet who released two critically acclaimed records and gained a national reputation for their ferocious live performances across the country. With the latest release, Town Without Soul, The Fred Wickham Caravan brings to vinyl the giant live sound Midwestern audiences have experienced ever since the Caravan formed to support Wickham’s much-heralded solo record, Mariosa Delta, in 2017. Leaving nothing unutilized in his refined toolbox of honky tonk and roots rock, Wickham leads the Caravan effortlessly through ten tracks of wrenching heartache, scathing satire and wry observation. EXPASSIONATES Expassionates began as a recording project by singer/songwriter Scott Easterday in 1998 in the historic El Torreon Ballroom in Kansas City. He played guitar and keyboards and hired musicians from diverse backgrounds in rock, country and jazz. The resulting album, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, was released in 1998. For the next several years Easterday played solo shows and duo shows with Marco Pascolini on guitar until they decided to add a permanent rhythm section with Richard Burgess on bass and Sam Platt on drums. That group played live shows and released an album called Landscapes in 2008. They took a hiatus for several years but are returning to the stage in 2022 with favorites from the albums and new songs.
