Troy English Learners meet proficiency on state ACCESS assessment

Troy Middle School is pleased to recognize eight of its English Learner students who met state proficiency standards on the ACCESS assessment this spring. They are Stephanie Ceballos, Diego Diaz, Elizabeth Gonzalez-Navarro, Noel Lopez, Leangheng Peng, Yoselin Renteria, Iris Thammavongsa and Quyen Tu Tran. Karina Ochoa, Troy Director of Multilingual Services, said she was proud of the students and that this was a great accomplishment. "Both our teachers and our students have worked really hard through a year of uncertainty," Ochoa said. "This just solidifies their hard work." ACCESS, or Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State, is an English language proficiency test designed to measure English language learners' social and academic proficiency in English. Troy Middle School is a Troy Community School District 30-C school.
