LOS ANGELES, CA — Two people were killed early Wednesday morning in a big rig crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Verdugo Hills. According to the California Highway Patrol, the pair was trapped inside a vehicle following a collision with a semi-trailer on the westbound 210 Freeway at La Tuna Canyon Road just after midnight. Their sedan became stuck under the truck, and firefighters worked to free them. The coroner's office identified one of the fatally injured men as Miguel Martinez, 57, of Covina. The name of the other man, who was in his 40s, was withheld, pending notification of his relatives. Video from the scene showed crews pulling the crumpled vehicle from beneath the truck, which wound up on the right shoulder of the freeway. The men were found amid the wreckage under the truck. Both vehicles wound up on the freeway's right shoulder, but the crash closed three lanes of the freeway. The cause of the fatal collision remained under investigation Wednesday. City News Service contributed to this report.
