WHITE PLAINS, NY — Testing for the new coronavirus at the Westchester County Center will end effective Friday. County Executive George Latimer said Monday at his weekly COVID-19 news conference that the White Plains facility has been averaging about nine to 10 tests a day recently. "That's a very low number," he said. Latimer said the county center will be going through a complete restoration, "getting it back to where it was when we turned it into a medical center." He said the state will be doing the restoration, and the aim is to have it available for other uses by the end of the year. There are numerous other ways for the public to get tested for the COVID-19, including home tests and other sites searchable through this website. The county center was turned into an overflow hospital facility in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, but no patients were ever cared for at the center. It has since been used for coronavirus testing and vaccinations.
