TPD spokesperson Stephanie Taylor confirmed to Patch that at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday, a driver refused to pull over for a traffic stop in the vicinity of Plantation Drive, before leading officers through Crabtree Road, Laurelwood Drive and Old Greensboro Road. The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office also assisted during the pursuit in this area, she said. TPD officers witnessed the driver throw something from the vehicle near Manora Estates, before wrecking and abandoning the vehicle on Dove Lane. A search of the area is currently underway. The pursuit was also the second for Tuscaloosa County on Wednesday. As Patch previously reported, a Northport Police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon when he was dragged by a suspect's vehicle at The Wharf, before a pursuit began on Highway 69 North that eventually ended with the suspect taken into custody in the area of Union Chapel Road. Patch has confirmed the two chases are unrelated. This is a developing story. Tuscaloosa Patch will have more as it comes available.
