Bluegrass Bass Player Needed

Meets

Conway MA

Description

Seven Mile Line, a Franklin County based bluegrass band now in its 16th year, is in search of a replacement for our Bass player, who will be leaving the band this summer for other opportunities. Our material consists of unique arrangements of bluegrass standards, and we pride ourselves in a wide variety of bluegrass music (we are strongly influenced by the Seldom Scene, Gibson Brothers, Tony Rice, Hot Rize, and Don Reno, to name a few). Ranging in age from 40s to 60s, we all have careers and family commitments, but nonetheless try to practice weekly (usually Wednesday evenings), and perform regularly (perhaps once a month, but more frequently during Summer and Fall at local festivals and events). We are in this for the love of music and the joy of performing. We are known for our three-part harmonies, strong song selection, and playful performance style. While we always have fun, we are also serious about trying to perform the music in the best way we can. We are looking for a bassist who has impeccable timing, and a simple and strong style. We strongly prefer acoustic bass, but would audition and consider an electric player if the playing style fits our sound. No singing is expected of our bassist. If you love bluegrass, know how to play bluegrass bass, and have strong chops and a willingness to learn our material (currently 30-40 tunes...but we are always expanding our repertoire), please respond, and we will bring you in for a weeknight audition, which will include four songs: · Cold Sheets of Rain (key of A in the style of Clay Jones) · Pike County Breakdown (key of A in the style of Bill Monroe) · So Afraid of Losing You Again (key of F in the style of JD Crowe) · White Freightliner Blues (key of B in the style of JD Crowe) Thank you for your interest.
